Service Area
Service Area: Nokomis Healthy Seniors serves the Bancroft, Bryant, Corcoran, Diamond Lake, Ericsson, Field, Hale, Keewaydin, Minnehaha, Morris Park, Northrup, Page, Regina, Standish, and Wenonah neighborhoods.

Transportation
Community volunteers assist neighborhood older adults with door-to-door transportation to medical appointments, prescription pick-up, groceries and social activities.

Exercise
Exercise classes are offered several days a week, including a weekly Yoga class. Classes are tailored to work at the ability level of each participant to improve strength and mobility.

“Nurse Is In” Community Health Outreach Clinics
The “Nurse Is In” drop-in clinic is held each Thursday so older adults can speak with nursing staff for preventive, general healthcare checks (blood pressures, medical questions, foot care, etc.). NHS also operates monthly blood pressure clinics at other locations in our service area. Stop by to meet other older adults from the neighborhood as you socialize over coffee and baked goods.

Volunteer Services
Volunteers provide direct help, reduce isolation and connect older adults to the community through services such as friendly visiting, transportation services and grocery shopping. Volunteers also provide little extras like un-sticking a screen door or delivering a gift during the holiday season, and have always been a strength of the Nokomis Healthy Seniors program.

Social Events
Look at the calendar for upcoming social events, such as Lunch & a Movie, Creativity & Conversation Women's Art Group, and Bingo parties.

Foot Care
Foot care is provided by a nurse either during the Nurse Is In clinic or in the client’s home if they are homebound. By using a nurse for these services we can assist diabetic clients or those with other circulatory issues.

Health Education Programs
Monthly health education programs are led by local experts at a neighborhood church and condominium co-ops, and are open to any member of the community.

Support Groups
Support groups for caregivers, those with diabetes, and those with low vision are offered once/month.

Referrals
